Lithops

I brought home my very first Lithops — one of those tiny “living stones” I’ve admired from afar for so long. I found it at Canadian Tire, tucked quietly among the succulents. Something about its muted tones and odd little form caught my eye right away.

This is my first experience growing a Lithops, and I’m both excited and a little nervous. They’re not the kind of plant you fuss over — they prefer stillness, restraint, and patience. The kind of care that asks you to do less, not more.

For now, it’s staying in its nursery pot while I learn its rhythm. It’s sitting in a bright spot with higher light intensity, soaking up plenty of gentle sun throughout the day. I’ve been watering about every 7–9 days, keeping a close eye on the soil and the feel of the plant itself.

Lithops grow in cycles — splitting, resting, and renewing — and their watering schedule depends entirely on those quiet shifts. My plan is to simply observe, adjust, and learn as I go.

It feels special to start this new chapter in my growing journey — something small, simple, and full of quiet lessons.
