Variegated String of Hearts - (Ceropegia woodii variegata).

On October 4th, I brought home a variegated string of hearts — a plant I’ve always admired but never added to my collection until now. This one immediately stood out with its delicate mix of green and white leaves, each one patterned just enough to make it feel special without demanding attention.

It’s now placed in my bathroom, about a foot away from the window, where it receives gentle natural light throughout the day. The plant hangs on the wall, tucked beside a few pictures, adding a soft trailing touch to the space. I chose this spot partly for the vibe — the way trailing plants bring softness to a room — and partly because I don’t have many safe areas for trailing plants that stay out of reach from my cat. This corner felt like the perfect match.

I’ve repotted it into my homemade substrate mix, giving it a fresh start and a light, airy base to grow from. The vines aren’t long yet, but I’m already imagining how it will look once it begins to trail more fully. My hope is that, over time, it becomes lush and full — even if that means doing the occasional big chop to maintain and encourage new growth.

For now, it’s a small plant settling into a quiet space, adding softness and calm to an everyday room. I’m excited to watch it adjust, stretch, and eventually pour down the wall in that slow, patient way only a string of hearts can.
